The Therapeutic Effects of Bacampicillin on Acute Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Abstract
|

|
A clinical trial for therapeutic effect of Bacampicillin, a new ampicillin derivative, was made on 30 cases of acute pelvic inflammatory disease after oral administration, 400mg twice or three times a day.
The results were evaluated by the improvement of clinical symptoms, signs & laboratory findings as follows; good, improved or failure were applied for rate of effectiveness.
The results were good & improved in 90% and failure in 10%, 3 out of 4 improved cases were Gram negative organisms & all of three failed cases were Gram negative organisms so the organism isolated from ineffective cases were mostly Gram negative organisms.
Observed side effect were 1 case of skin rash & the other one was diarrhea which spontaneous subsided without specific treatment. It was appeared that the drug is effective in control of acute pelvic inflammatory disease, especially from Gram positive organisms and dome of Gram negative organisms.
